Titlis

At 3238m above sea level, on the border between the cantons of Obwalden and Bern, the Titlis is an icy mountain that can be reached with the Rotair, the world's first revolving cable car, which opened in 2014.

It is a highly recommended destination for thrill seekers. You can walk through a tunnel dug in the glacier, cross the highest suspension bridge in Europe over a 500m precipice (Titlis Cliff Walk), fly over a glacier in a chairlift (Ice Flyer)...

Of course, if you don't have shoes suitable for walking on ice or if you are prone to vertigo, you will be content to admire the view from the top station of the Rotair, a steel and glass monster perched at 3028m.

Even then, going up to the Titlis is an experience worth having!

You start from Engelberg in the canton of Obwalden, one of the most famous destinations in central Switzerland, at an altitude of 1003m. You take the first cable car, the Titlis Xpress, which takes you to 1784m near the Trübsee ("murky lake"), which is a beautiful destination in itself.

The Titlis Xpress then continues to Stand at 2428m. Here you take the Rotair to the world of glaciers. Take the time to get out and admire the landscape, a desert of rocks where small streams flow from the glaciers you see overhead.

The Rotair with its red belly proudly displaying a Swiss cross then takes you to the Kleintitlis, turning slowly to give you a 360° view.
