Flanthey

This small village hangs on the slopes of the Châtelard Hill, on the Sierre hillside. Situated on the sunny right bank of the Rhône Valley, it is part of the commune of Lens, and its winegrowers are renowned for their production of an emblematic Valais grape variety, cornalin.

Flanthey is actually made up of eight hamlets spread out among the vines halfway between Granges, on the plain, and Lens, higher up on the road to Crans. This environment has enabled the village to become one of the wine capitals of the Valais, known in particular for its cornalin. Flanthey has no fewer than 12 wine cellars for just 200 inhabitants!

Just below the village, in a tiny hamlet, the historic Castle of Vaas has been transformed into a wine library showcasing the region's finest vintages and local products.

In its centuries-old wooded rooms, this "House of the Cornalins" hosts a permanent exhibition on cornalin, giving you all you need to know about this emblematic Valais grape variety.
