Gornergrat

The Gornergrat is, together with the Matterhorn, the big star of Zermatt. It is a summit ridge at 3133 m altitude offering breathtaking views of the glaciers and the highest peaks of the Alps.

It offers a panoramic view of more than twenty peaks over 4000 metres, including those of the Monte Rosa massif, the Breithorn and the Matterhorn.

The view of the Gornergletscher (Gorner Glacier) is particularly impressive. At 14 km long, it is the third longest in Switzerland, after the Aletsch and Fiesch glaciers.

The Gornergrat is reached by a small mountain train from Zermatt.
