Bettmeralp

Clinging to the mountain slopes above the upper Rhone Valley, Bettmeralp is a car-free village, just like Saas Fee and Zermatt. You can get there by cable car... or on foot!

Two cable cars depart from Betten Talstation at the bottom of the valley. One goes up to the village of Betten, 1203m above sea level, from where a second line climbs to Bettmeralp, which is 1954m above sea level. The other cable car goes directly up to Bettmeralp without passing through Betten.

Bettmeralp is both a winter sports resort and a hiking paradise in summer. A cable car takes you to the foot of the Bettmerhorn peak and offers unforgettable views of the Aletsch Glacier.

The departure for Bettmerhorn is not at the arrival of the cable car up from the valley, you have to go through the village to get there.

You can admire the Maria zum Schnee chapel on the way up and make a diversion to the idyllic Bettmersee Alpine lake.
