BlattenAbstractIt is the highest village in the valley, at an altitude of 1540 m, with the Lonza River running through it. The construction of a carriage road in 1954 brought Blatten out of its isolation and enabled its tourist development. The village has remained very authentic, even if the replacement of its neo-Gothic church by a modern building in 1985 contrasts with the old wooden chalets, the oldest of which were built in the 16th century.
