DorfplatzstrasseAbstractSome of the village streets are cobbled, but many are simply paved in the old-fashioned way, as can be seen in this alleyway leading steeply down to the church of Saint-Nicolas de Flüe, whose silhouette contrasts with the ancient buildings. Built in 1959-1960 in a very modern style after the destruction of the old church by the 1946 earthquake, the church is nevertheless perfectly integrated into the village landscape.
