Route du Fiod (1)AbstractWe are here on a dead-end street lined with the oldest buildings in the village, the ‘raccards’ (or ‘mazots’). These are traditional granaries built on ‘pilets’ (a type of stilts) and insulated by ‘palets’ (stone discs) which protect the grain by forming an impenetrable barrier against rodents. These granaries are typical of the Alps, particularly in Valais and the Aosta Valley (Italy).
